Captain William C. Schultz has been with the City of Fort Lauderdale Police Department since 2001. He received his bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice Administration with a minor in Psychology and master’s degree with a tri-concentration in Technology, Communications and Police Staff and Command from Eastern Michigan University (EMU). While at EMU through 2001, he worked as an undergraduate assistant, instructor, graduate assistant, departmental assistant director and additionally completed a student internship with the Michigan Department of State Police.
During his tenure with the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, Captain Schultz has held various assignments within the Department to include patrol operations, sworn awards committee chairman, community policing, department training instructor, public information officer, internal affairs investigator, homeland security coordinator, shift commander, division commander, Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 31 Health Trust board member/health and fitness committee chairman and large special event and emergency management planning and operations coordinator. He is the Department’s National Incident Management System (NIMS) Principal Coordinator, coordinating Department training in Incident Command System (ICS) and NIMS and assuring the Department’s compliance with related operating guidelines and federal administrative mandates.
From his time as a manager and administrator at Eastern Michigan University and throughout his service with the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, he has assisted in the logistical, operational and budgetary planning and implementation of hundreds of events ranging from Presidential and dignitary ceremonies to large sporting and entertainment events. He has assisted in coordinating the City of Fort Lauderdale’s public safety planning and operations in association with critical events to include Hurricanes Katrina, Wilma and Irma, as well as numerous large special events to include the annual military Fleet Week, Air & Sea Show, St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Festival, Memorial Day and July 4th celebrations, and high profile events to include the Organization of American States Conference and the 2010 Super Bowl and Pro Bowl Saturday Night Beach Concert.
With his accumulated experience and accomplishments, Captain Schultz has earned his reputation as a well-respected law enforcement professional and strong supporter of our Fort Lauderdale community.
