Procedures on how to file a missing person's report:
Call the communications center at 954-828-5700 ext. 4 and provide the necessary information to the operator or come directly to the Police Department to make a report in person. Please be prepared to provide the missing person’s name, date of birth, address and last known location of the missing person. The Fort Lauderdale Police Department will only investigate cases where the person was last seen within the Fort Lauderdale City limits.
If you have information on a person who has been reported missing:
Contact either the communications center for immediate assistance, or if the matter is not urgent, please contact the detective assigned to the case. If you wish to remain anonymous, please call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477).
If you do not know which detective is assigned to your case:
You may call the Fort Lauderdale Police Department Criminal Investigations Division at 954-828-5700 ext. 5 to determine which investigator/detective is assigned to the case.
